We offer:
Pork from our pasture-raised pigs - as a member of our meat CSA, you'll receive weekly cuts of pork including chops, ribs, larger roasts, sausage and bacon. Our pigs are fed non-GMO feed to supplement their pasture forage (as well as tasty farm and kitchen scraps).
Whole chickens - also included in our meat shares, a few whole chickens per season. Our birds enjoy the same pasture and woods environment as our pigs, and enjoy scratching for bugs and other treats in the soil. They are also fed non-GMO feed to supplement their forage.
Eggs - sold as a separate share. Our laying hens are raised just like our meat birds - they roam around all day and return to their safe coop at night. Their eggs are fresh and, because of their varied diet, very wholesome.
Vegetables - sold as a separate share. Our goal is to grow a wide variety of vegetables using practices that replenish our soil rather than depleting it. Healthy soil, combined with good harvesting practices, means that the produce you receive is more nutritious (and tastier) than what you might find in the supermarket. Expect a wide variety throughout the season, from peas and spinach in the spring, to tomatoes and peppers in summer, to onions and squash in the fall. Each weekly share will include about 8-10 different items (fewer for half-shares).
Though we don't plan to become certified organic, we are committed to using only sustainable, safe practices for our vegetables, eggs, and meat. This means using natural products like fish emulsion and neem in the garden, using intensive rotation to decrease the chance of disease in our animals, and sourcing the best non-GMO feed we can find. We love to talk about our methods and are happy to address any questions or concerns.
